Caramel In Perfumery
Gourmand fragrances may smell edible and are made up of sweet, bakery-type notes of vanilla, caramel, cotton candy, chocolate, coffee, honey, cognac and many other dessert-type ingredients.

Gourmands tend to be warm and more wearable in the cooler seasons. These scents are almost comforting – perfect for autumn weather and the months to come!

Caramel is a purely synthetic or "fantasy" ingredient in perfumery. The compounds responsible for bringing this note to life are maltol, which naturally occurs in malt, and ethyl maltol. It has an intensely overwhelming sweetness. It is best used in small doses to accent other notes.
