Usage & Guidelines:
Seabuckthorn Berry CO2 Total, Lithuania is primarily composed of fatty acids like palmitic acid at no less than 15 % and palmitoleic acid at around 16 %. Oleic acid is also present at a minimum of 10 %. The color ranges from a rich red to a pale orange. Though possible it is not practical to completely remove the color. The color is a result of minor components.
CO2 extracts are solvent extracted products. The solvent in this case is CO2 or Carbon Dioxide. Under certain conditions of low temperature and high pressure, Carbon Dioxide can become a liquid. In the liquid phase CO2 is a good solvent for extracting out the aromatic molecules from plants. Once the desired extraction is complete, the extraction vessel is brought to normal atmospheric conditions and the CO2 rapidly converts back to a gas and dissipates, leaving behind a very high quality aromatic product that is the true, unchanged essence of the plant and completely free of solvent.
  • CO2 Selects are obtained at lower pressures and more closely compare to the volatility of essential oils since the less of the heavier waxy materials are extracted.
  • CO2 Totals are obtained at higher pressures to get out the volatiles along with the heavier molecules and plant waxes that would not be seen in essential oils.
Note: Essential oils need to be diluted in a carrier oil or base product prior to skin contact.
